BICOM Radio Silent Communications

TCC905A/VIPERŪ BICOM offers a precision targeting system with a free-space laser communications terminal. An integrated system comprised of the TCC905A Laser Transceiver and the Rockwell VIPERŪ Rangefinding Binoculars, BICOM provides voice, data and video transmission capabilities and precision targeting.

Reducing Workload With this system the scout only needs to aim the binoculars at the target and initiate the targeting mode. The system responds by automatically measuring the target range, azimuth, elevation, and its own GPS position, then computes the target's GPS position and stores all data in memory. The scout may then contact a companion Lasercom terminal under Radio Silent conditions, utilizing the voice-mode to advise of any situational problems, then transmit the target data and user's GPS position. BICOM may be interfaced to any standard PC applique via RS-232 port or PC parallel port, and an optional video adapter allows an image of the scene/target to be recorded.

The BICOM SystemThis system complements the Army Legacy Radios. Since frequency allocation is not required to use BICOM's high data transfer capability, the commander need not be cut off from critical mission data during Radio Silent Combat Doctrine missions. It can interface to the RS-232 port of combat platforms or digital radio to integrate messages into the Army communications net. Data, video and voice communication through a Lasercom/Radio network is seamless between the sender and receiver.
